Award:Winner of 2023 Husky Hackathon

Introduction

Recently, I had the opportunity to participate in the 2023 Husky Hackathon and I am thrilled to announce that I came out as a winner in this competition. Out of 21 groups, I was the only member of my group and I took on the challenge to create a project from scratch. The result of my efforts was TogetherRide, an app designed specifically for students connects users and allows them to easily coordinate carpools based on their academic and work schedules.

Participating in the Husky Hackathon was a great learning experience for me. Not only did I get to showcase my technical skills, but I also had the chance to collaborate with other talented individuals and broaden my network. The hackathon provided me with the opportunity to work on a real-world project and apply my knowledge to create a solution that can make a difference.

Hackathon process

Creating TogetherRide was no easy feat. From coming up with the initial concept to bringing it to life, it required a lot of hard work and dedication on my part. I spent countless hours researching the latest technologies and figuring out the best approach to solving the problem. I also had to overcome many challenges along the way, but I never lost sight of my goal.

The development process was both exciting and challenging, as I had to constantly adapt and find new solutions to problems that arose. I was also responsible for all aspects of the project, from design to coding, testing and debugging. Despite the obstacles, I remained focused and committed to delivering the best possible outcome.

Preparation

Working on TogetherRide

Working on TogetherRide was a roller coaster of emotions. There were moments of frustration and moments of triumph, but I never lost sight of my goal.

Initial Concept

As a student at Northeastern University, I have experienced the frustration of coordinating carpools through a group chat same as my classmates. The back and forth messaging to coordinate schedules and locations is time-consuming and inconvenient. With this in mind, I aim to create a carpool app designed specifically for students that seamlessly integrates with their academic and work schedules, while also promoting environmentally-friendly and community-driven transportation. The app will make it easy for students to connect with each other and reduce their carbon footprint, all while saving time and effort in the carpool planning process. Join us in my mission to create a more sustainable and efficient way of carpooling for students.

What it does

The TogetherRide app designed specifically for students connects users and allows them to easily coordinate carpools based on their academic and work schedules. The app promotes environmentally-friendly and community-driven transportation by making it simple for students to arrange carpools, reducing their carbon footprint and saving time and effort in the planning process. The app integrates a scheduling system that matches students with compatible carpool partners, streamlining the process and making it a breeze to coordinate rides.

TogetherRide app connects students who have similar schedules and destinations, allowing them to share rides and reduce their carbon footprint. With an easy-to-use interface, students can quickly find compatible carpool partners, coordinate schedules, and track their carbon savings. The app also integrates with the users’ academic and work schedules, ensuring that carpooling fits seamlessly into their daily routine. By promoting environmentally-friendly transportation and building a sense of community among students, my app aims to make carpooling a hassle-free and enjoyable experience.
